Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, everything was green and lush. The unicorns walked among the trees and the elves and humans lived in peace and harmony with their environment. However, in a clearing partially hidden by trees, hidden by a gathering veil of mist, in the murky darkness of an ancient shack, a figure hunches over a hauntingly glowing crystal ball. A voice mutters and chants ancient formulas, urging the billowing mists within the crystal to part and allow a glimpse into the future.
"Everything is in flux, nothing seems certain. Come, oh whims of space and time, part the veil and show us what is coming," growls the voice with the hint of an eye vaguely reflected in the glow of the front of his hood. The figure's audience, barely visible in the gloom, leans forward and listens attentively. "Time flows and flows, forming puddles and wrinkles... but when the mists part, only vague images rise." beyond the veil. Shhhh... don't get too close. The Ultimate Evil and his trusted *cough* minion, the dark elf Thalya, return in Dungeons 4 following the events of their fabulous predecessor to bring triumph over the forces of good once again.
Build a comfortable and welcoming dungeon to meet your creatures' needs and rule over them, then send them out into the Outer World to gently remind the good people who live there that the Ultimate Evil rules over their lands. Gather your Evil in new and dynamic ways and unleash it upon the lush green forests and plains of the Outer World to turn them to the dark side. But make sure your dungeon is well-guarded by traps and defended by your creatures, because those damn outsides aren't going to stand by while you turn their lands into the Ultimate Evil's most pleasant vacation paradise.
But what is that noise? “Gold, gold, gold and gems, gold and gems and gold!” The ancient chant reverberates throughout the underworld, accompanied by the clash of steel from hammers and axes. The dwarves have arrived to claim their share of the abundant resources and, together with the elves and humans of the Outworld, they send their expedition parties to find the heart of the dungeon.
Dungeons 4 maintains the spirit of its predecessor, but everything is now bigger, better and with even more dynamic Evils™.
