Under the Waves is a narrative adventure video game that explores the corrosive power of mourning. It is set in the North Sea, in a 1970s techno-futuristic setting. Professional diver Stan struggles to overcome a life-changing loss and accept a new future. Isolation in the depths of the sea clearly parallels his state of mind, and as he drifts deeper and deeper into a self-imposed solitude, he begins to witness strange occurrences far below the surface. At some point, he will have to make a difficult decision.
Under The Waves is a love letter to the oceans and an invitation to immerse yourself in a wondrous underwater world brought to life by a poetic combination of cinematic imagery and a moving plot. Live a fascinating story as Stan and guide him through a succession of unexpected events that will take him further and further into the abyss, as a reflection of his own psyche.
He travels the vast seabed aboard a submarine and discovers the beautiful wildlife in the company of Stan and the mental ghosts that haunt him. He explores caves, shipwrecks, and underwater plants in Stan's wetsuit, and follows the mysterious manifestations of his memories to find a way to return to the surface and save his life. He collects materials and crafts equipment that will allow Stan to continue sailing on his expedition of self-discovery. He must dare to go to the ends of the unknown to live dazzling moments and reveal more of the tragic past from which our character tries to escape.
